Shuffleshoes is a remarkable property. Although only an 8 minute stroll from the cafes, restaurants, galleries and shops of Blackheath (and the railway station), this is a quiet and hidden sanctuary. Accessed via a private bush lane and situated at the head of the beautiful Popes Glen catchment, Shuffleshoes is surrounded by unspoiled natural vegetation.
The house itself is nestled in a natural amphitheatre of cascading ferns, tree ferns and majestic gumtrees, facing a large area of lawn. The property even has its own ephemeral creek running through the garden. Here, tranquility prevails.
Lying as it does so close to the World Heritage Blue Mountains National Park, the garden is frequented by lyrebirds, whipbirds and bower birds. Parrots and kookaburras abound and ducks are regular visitors on the lawns and in the water. Watch for rock wallabies in the morning and evening and spot possums at night.
